He is known in the sports field as "Oli". This is a former soccer player and Spanish soccer coach of Asturian origin. He was international with the Spanish National Team on two occasions, both times he scored a goal. He drew attention to his perseverance and performance on the field. His international debut came in Bratislava. He was running in 1997, in a match against the Slovakia National Team. His second match was a few months later, which ended with Spain's 3-1 victory over the Faroe Islands, a match in which he scored the second goal for the Spanish team.

At home, the man from Oviedo began his career with the Association Deportiva Universidad de Oviedo team. After a season with the Real Oviedo second team, he was promoted to the first team permanently in 1994. Three years later, thanks to his excellent career, Real Betis Balompié signed him. In this last team he stayed three seasons. He later returned to Real Oviedo and scored no less than fifteen goals in the 2000/2001 season. After leaving the Oviedo club, he signed for the Cádiz Club de Fútbol. He was playing for the Cádiz club for several seasons, with which he was promoted to the first division.

After closing his stage as a soccer player, he began his career as a coach at the helm of the Cádiz Club de Fútbol in 2006/2007. He later landed in the Unión Deportiva Marbella of second division B with the aim of saving the team.

In the 2008/2009 season he coached Écija Balompié in the second division B. In the 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 seasons he coached Real Betis B in the second division B. Later he took over as head coach of Club Marino de Luanco for four seasons.
