That Capdevila is part of our Dream Team is a luxury. An elite athlete in Spanish football, with an important international career (Andorra, India, Portugal and Belgium). This left back made his debut for the Spanish National Team in 2002 in a game in which Spain drew against Paraguay in a game where no goal was scored 0-0. Five years later he hit the target and scored his first international goal against Sweden. He played Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. Capdevila was proclaimed, along with his team, champion of Euro 2008 against the German soccer team. The following year, he played in the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. In 2010 he reached fifty caps in the quarterfinals of the World Cup in South Africa. In that same championship, Spain would win the World Cup after beating the Netherlands National Team 0-1. He is remembered as Joan Capdevila, Iker Casillas and Gerard Piqué were the only players of the Spanish National Team who played every minute of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, for which you have to be at your best.
Capdevila began his sports career at Espanyol, but he did not debut in the first division until 1998 and he did so at Athletic Club, a season where he played twenty-nine league games and scored four goals. Later, in 2000 he joined the ranks of Deportivo de La Coruña, where he ended up taking over the left side. He signed for Villarreal in the 2007/2008 season until 2011. That year he made the leap to Portugal, where he signed for Benfica.
The following year, he returned to Spain to meet again with the Real Club Deportivo Espanyol. In 2014 he signed for a season for the Northeast United FC team of the Indian Super League to end up betting on Lierse SK of the Belgacom League in the 2015/2016 season. In the following season he decides for the Andorran team, Fútbol Club Santa Coloma, where he had the opportunity to play in the first round of the Champions League. In 2017 he put an end to his career as a footballer, thus closing the professional chapter that has left its mark on the fans.
Recently, the player shared on social networks the good vibes that he still has with other footballers who passed through the Riazor stadium, such as Albert Luque and Mauro Silva, fellow battles in the A Coruna team. Capdevila uploaded to his account, the video together with Silva where they greeted the followers: "What a dinner we have memories." Don Mauro, a soccer great…sends a big hug to all of you!!
